Early detection is the key to cure cancer said Dr Jaineet Sachdeva, head, radiation department, CMC, during an awareness camp organised by Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT), Civil Lines, and GGN College of Pharmacy in association with Cipla Pharmaceuticals here on Wednesday.
Ravinder Dang, head, pharmacy department welcomed the guest. Dr Sachdeva dealt in detail with the breast, cervix and ovarian cancer.
She informed students that cancer was the second most common disease in India. She enlisted early signs and symptoms of women-specific cancer and exhorted that an early detection resulted in 100% survival.
While explaining the causes of cancer, Dr Sachdeva said the changing lifestyle, increasing pollution levels, changed sexual habits, unhealthy food habits, lack of physical exercise were some of the key contributors to cancer.
She advised students to lead a healthy life.
Dr Sachdeva also talked about the risk factors, diagnosis and preventive measures for a healthy cancer-free life.
She recommended girls to self-examine them once a month to avoid the occurrence of breast cancer. She also briefed that healthy diet, personal hygiene, physical exercise and a stress-free life is the secret for a healthy body.
Dr Sachdeva also addressed personal queries of students and guided them.
