The enforcement directorate (ED) on Tuesday took possession of 92 kanals of farmland owned by drug smuggler Jagdish Bhola’s parents at their native village, Rai-Ke-Kalan, in Bathinda district.

As per ED sources, Bhola had purchased the land in the name of his father Balshinder Singh and mother Baltej Kaur using “unaccounted” money when he was still active in the drug trade. The step was taken after the adjudicating authority decided the case in ED’s favour.

Of the Rs 600-crore worth properties of drug smugglers attached by the ED, Bhola’s account for more than Rs 100 crore. The share of SAD leader from Goraya, Chunni Lal Gaba and his family, is Rs 120 crore.

Sources said applications for attaching many other properties were pending.
