With the arrest of eight people, the CIA staff-1 and sleuths of Focal Point police station, in a joint operation, claimed to have busted a gang involved in robbing factories after confining labourers.
The cops also recovered three country-made pistols, a revolver, 18 bullets, two sharp-edged weapons and two iron rods from the accused, besides a truck that they used to transport robbed material and `96,000 in. The accused have confessed to have committed six such robberies in Ludhiana in the past few months.
The accused have been identified as Madesh Singh of Malipur in Bihar; Tulsi of Dariyapur village in Bihar; Darshan Pal of Singali village in Uttar Pradesh and his brother Ashok Pal; Jatinder Yadav of Beriya village of Uttar Pradesh; Sagar Kumar of Ghordi Nangal village in Uttar Pradesh; Man Singh of Shivapuva village of Uttar Pradesh; and Pankaj Kumar of Dhamkoi village in Uttar Pradesh. The accused lived in shanties in Ludhiana.
While yielding the arrest of the gang, assistant commissioner of police (ACP, crime) Jaswinder Singh said the accused used recce factories in the daytime and used to target the factory in the dark. The accused used to move in the truck to load and transport the material robbed.
He further said the police arrested the accused in the Focal Point area on Friday late night. The accused were hatching a robbery conspiracy.
Three cases, including two under the Arms Act and another for hatching conspiracy of loot, have been registered against the accused at the Focal Point police station.
The accused had also robbed a revolver and a mini truck a few days back. The police also recovered them following information provided by the accused.
