A day after her younger sister died after they consumed some poisonous substance, a 17-year-old girl also succumbed at Guru Tej Bahadur Hospital on Thursday.

Bhawna, who is the elder sister of Bharti, died at the hospital in presence of her family on Thursday afternoon.

Bhawna was under depression and was undergoing treatment for the illness. She was administered medicines for her illness regularly.

On Tuesday afternoon, Bhawna and her sister, Bharti, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at their house in Kartar Nagar, after which they started vomiting.

Their father, Satish Kumar, on noticing their condition had admitted them to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where Bharti had died at 11 pm on Tuesday.

Paramjit Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Atam Nagar police station, said a rat kill was found at the house, but it was still not confirmed whether the girls consumed some poison or a medicine.

No case has been registered in the matter.
