A 65-year-old woman died after being assaulted by a boutique owner and her accomplices at Jivan Nagar, Focal Point, on Saturday. The accused are on the run and the police have registered a case against them. Hunt is on to nab them, the police said.

Complainant Joginder Singh, husband of victim Harbans Kaur, said that his daughter-in-law Paramjeet Kaur had got some suits stitched from Shivani Kapoor, who runs a boutique at Urban Estate, Focal Point. On February 6, Shivani came to the complainant's house and rebuked them before leaving in anger. After sometime, she came along with her sons- Gurpreet Singh and Fateh Singh- and four other accomplices to assault the family, said the complainant.

According to Joginder Singh, his wife Harbans Kaur, who was a heart patient, was also assaulted. After she fell unconscious, the family rushed her to Chirstian Medical College and Hospital, where she died on Saturday. He said the victim suffered internal injuries in the scuffle.

Moti Nagar station house officer (SHO) Kamaljit Singh said the accused were at large. A case under Sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 452 (trespassing), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the IPC.
