Elderly woman hurt during purse snatching

Two motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched handbag from an elderly woman and left her injured in the posh locality of Sarabha Nagar of Monday. She suffered head injury and was rushed to a private hospital. Her condition is stable now.

The incident was captured in the CCTV cameras installed at house of neighbours of the victim. Kala Aggarwal, 60, a resident of south city had come to Sarabha Nagar to visit her sister.

Varun, the nephew of the victim, said when his aunt was about to sit in her car parked outside the house, two motorcycle-borne persons came, snatched her purse and pushed her. The victim fell on the road and suffered head injury. Varun said the purse contained Rs 10,000 in cash, a mobile phone and keys of the house.

Sarabha nagar police reached the spot and got the CCTV footage. The CCTV footage shows two persons appearing to be in their twenties. The relatives of the victim tried to follow the snatchers, but failed to nab them.

SHO at the Sarabha Nagar police station sub-inspector Kulwant Singh said a case has been registered against unidentified persons and a manhunt has been launched to arrest the accused.
