A girl student of an engineering college at Badhani went missing under mysterious circumstances on Friday evening. Her parents alleged that she had been abducted on her way home from college. The police are investigating the matter and have alerted various police stations.

Tirlok Singh, father of first-year student Parminder Kaur (20), said she called him around 4pm, but he failed to take the call. Later, she rang up her mother Tirath Kaur and told her that some youths were chasing her ever since she had left the campus. However, the parents lost contact with the girl after this call.

Following the call, Tirlok, a resident of Abrol Nagar, Pathankot, rushed to the girl's pick-up spot near Indira Colony, but failed to find her.

The police also reached the spot and quizzed local shopkeepers. "Indira Colony is a busy place, but nobody saw anything untoward happening," deputy superintendent of police (DSP, city) Varinder Singh Sandhu told Hindustan Times.

He said the bus driver claimed that the girl got down near Gandhi Chowk, a stop which comes before Indira Colony.

The police are questioning college students as well as parents.
