Entries invited for bravery awards.
The Child Welfare Council of Punjab has invited applications for the Bravery Awards 2013 for various category, including Bharat Award, Geeta Chopra Award, Sanjay Chopra Award, Bapu Gyandhani Award and Genral Award.
The last date for the submission of application is September 15.In a statement issued here, deputy commissioner Rahul Tewari said the awards would be given to the brave children.
The awards are given to children between age of 6 and 18 years. He said the children, who displayed their exemplary courage to save the life of others by putting their life in risk or courageous services performed against social evils between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013, would be eligible for the award.
Tewari said the applicants would have to write the story of their bravery/courage at least in 250 words in Hindi or English on a page, which should be attached with the prescribed form. He said the award winners would get a medal, a certificate and cash prize. In addition, financial support would also be provided to the winners to complete the school education, the DC added.
Besides this, the Indian Council for Child Welfare also provides financial support to the winners for engineering, medicine and other job-oriented courses up to graduation level. More information is available on 'cwcpunjab.org'.
