The department of science and technology (DST) of the union ministry of science and technology has invited entries for the innovation of science pursuit and inspired research (Inspire) awards programme to be held in May.
Baljinder Singh, district science superviser and coordinator of the programme, said that the competition is conducted at three leves: district, state and national.
He said that, according to the scheme, each selected student from the school, is given Rs 5,000, out of which half is spent on preparing the model project while the rest is for his transport expenses.
"A student from each class from classes 6 to 10 from a school will be chosen for the district-level competition which will be held in May. The last date for online registration of entries is March 15," he said.
He said that as per the DST report, Punjab has lowest registrations from private schools.
"The private schools interested in sending entries can contact district education office or call at 0181-2402078," he said.
The students, whose projects would be selected for the state-level function, would get Rs 1,200 cash prize.
