ETT Teachers Union burns effigy of state govt

Elementary Teacher Training (ETT) Union, burnt effigy of the state government outside deputy commissioner office on Monday.

The protesting teachers raised slogans against the government for lathicharge in Amritsar, in which 10 teachers were injured during a protest outside the revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia house.

The ETT teachers have been demanding to bring zila parishad schools under the education department.

Distric president of the union Paramjit Singh Mann said, "Our teachers were just protesting and are demanding to shift our schools under the ambit of the education department. Arresting our teachers and lathicharge done by police was not right. Ten of our teachers have been injured. If the police will not relieve our teachers, than we will plan the next course of action."

Police has also arrested eight of our teachers on Monday from Bathinda and it was not justified.

In all districts the ETT teachers were protesting against the government and burnt effigy of the government.
