Slamming police of inaction, kin of the eve-teasing victim, alleged that cops were providing shelter to the accused instead of taking stern action against them.
The family members alleged that the intention of police, which took 40 days to register the case, could be read clearly.
According to the parents of the victim, a student of BSc Part 2, their daughter was allegedly harassed and teased by the miscreants, who were under the influence of liquor, outside their house in Rishi Nagar on July 9.
Following the incident, a complaint was filed at the PAU police station, but instead of taking action against the accused, police lodged them behind the bars, they claimed.
Rama Kant Yadav, father of victim, charged sub-inspector Sohan Lal with forcibly taking his signatures on the compromise documents.
Thereupon, they met ACP Gurpreet Kaur Purewal, and only after her intervention that a case was registered against the accused at the PAU police station, Yadav claimed.
When contacted, SHO at the PAU police station Param Deep Singh refuted all the charges slapped by Yadav, saying that the police already had registered a case against the accused and the investigating was on.
