Punjab Police inspector

Retired inspector Hazura Singh.

Two days after the body of property dealer Gurpreet Singh (33) was found in Bhakra canal here, the body of his father Hazura (62), a former Punjab Police inspector, was recovered from Baretta in Mansa.

The father-son duo from Bajwa Colony here had gone missing after they had gone to visit a property site. They are suspected to have feared drowned in the canal.

The two were travelling in their Mahindra Scorpio which fell off a bridge into the Bhakra canal near Jaura Majra village in Samana.

Investigating officer Major Singh said with the help of divers Hazura’s body was traced to Mansa and his family identified him from his clothes and other belongings.

Singh said preliminary post-mortem report did not reveal any injury mark on Gurpreet’s body and ruled out any foul play in the incident. The police have sent the viscera to verify poisonous substance in the body.

The investigating officer said the family did not raise any suspicion against anyone. He said one side of the car was damaged, hinting towards road accident.

He, however, said they are looking at multiple angles.
