Ex-militant Daljit Singh Bittu acquitted in case at Ludhiana

The police had alleged that Jaswant had lent his Ludhiana building to Bittu for unlawful activities, but the court acquitted the duo after the prosecution failed to prove the charges. The defence counsel had argued that the case was politically motivated.
A local court on Wednesday acquitted former militant Daljit Singh Bittu and a British citizen, Jaswant Singh Azad, in a case registered against them in September 2012 under the Arms Act and other offences for alleged planning of unlawful activities. Bittu is still facing another such case in Jalandhar.
The police had alleged that Jaswant had lent his Ludhiana building to Bittu for unlawful activities, but the court acquitted the duo after the prosecution failed to prove the charges. The defence counsel had argued that the case was politically motivated.
