Ex-Muktsar Cong chief’s son shot at, injured

Some unidentified persons on Monday shot at Harkirat Singh (19), son of former district Congress president late Avtar Singh, alias Billu Sidhu, leaving him injured.

The assailants fired two bullets at him on Ferozpur road in the city in the afternoon. While one bullet hit his chest, another pierced through his leg. The injured was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors removed a bullet from his chest. His condition was stable, the doctors said.

The victim is a student of nursing in a local medical institute. “Investigation is on. The victim is still unconscious and is not in a position to record his statement. We will record the stamen of his family on Tuesday. We cannot comment on the incident as of now,” said Muktsar station house officer Ashok Kumar.
