The Division Number 5 police have booked a former employee of a city-based travel agency for allegedly logging into the agency's e-mail account and cancelling two air tickets of its customers to harm its reputation.
The accused has been identified as Neha Kaushal of Pakhowal road. She was booked under Section 66 of the Information Technology Act following a complaint by Bhupesh Kumar, owner of Christine Vacations, Feroze Gandhi market.

Kumar told the police that he owned a travel agency that dealt in booking air tickets. He said Kaushal was his former employee and had joined another travel agency, Desire Vacations, Feroze Gandhi Market, around three months ago.

Kumar said his agency had booked two Jet Airways return tickets from Delhi to Goa for May 25 for his customers, Himanshu and Ashish, on December 7 last. Later, on December 25, his customers informed him that the tickets were cancelled.

When he contacted Jet Airways, its executive told him that the tickets were cancelled following an e-mail sent from his official e-mail address.

Kumar alleged that Kaushal, who knew his official e-mail ID and password, in collusion with her current employer, had logged into the email account and cancelled the tickets to harm the reputation of his agency.Investigating the matter, sub-inspector Mukesh Kumar, additional station house officer (SHO), Division Number 5 police station, said Kumar complained that he had also suffered financial loss in the incident. A case was registered following an inquiry, and efforts were on to arrest the accused, he added.
