Experts deliberate on social reforms

Haryana Insaaf Society organised a meet of social activists and intellectuals to discuss the issue of social reforms in state here on Wednesday.

After welcoming the participants, DR Chaudhry, general secretary of the society, said that social reform movement had been rather weak in the state. He said without dismantling barriers such as caste, community, regionalism and gender bias, there could neither be healthy politics nor healthy society.

Retired IPS officer VN Rai stressed on the need for evolving a strategy by studying some successful models to facilitate the task of social reforms in the state.

Jagmati Sangwan, a well known woman activist, said there need to have a common perspective among different groups for social reforms in state.

RS Dahiya, a senior professor in local health university, Rohtak; SP Singh, joint secretary of the society; Kumar Mukesh, a cultural activist from Kaithal; Geeta Pal, a woman activist from Panchkula;Bhagat Singh Malik, a senior advocate; Santosh Mudgal, an ex-principal; Rajeev Godara, an advocate; Ram Kanwar, an RTI activist from Jhajjar also presented their views on social issues.
