A day after the district BJP president, Suresh Bhatia, constituted a new BJP team in Fatehgarh Churrian assembly constituency, its former vice-president Vijay Mahajan accused Bhatia of promoting his close associates and ignoring deserving workers.
Talking to mediapersons, Mahajan said Bhatia was working as a 'dictator'. He said that Vipan Arora, who had been nominated as mandal president of Fatehgarh Churrian by Bhatia, was formerly associated with the Youth Congress and during the last council elections, his wife had opposed the official candidate of the BJP.
"Only people close to Bhatia have been promoted and many senior BJP workers were ignored," he alleged.
Demanding cancellation of all these appointments, Mahajan said that as per the principles of the party, the district president had to call a meeting of the office-bearers and all the appointments should be unanimous. He alleged that no such meeting was held and most of the office-bearers appointed by Bhatia were not even active workers of the BJP.
Former Fatehgarh Churrian BJP president Satish Maria, Palwinder Bhagat, former youth wing president Satish Arora, Daman Syal, councillor Parkash Masih were also present on the occasion.
Despite repeated attempts, Bhatia could not be contacted for comment.
