Three days after two girls of Sathiali village in the district faked their death by “drowning in a canal while taking a selfie” and went missing, the police are yet to trace them. DSP Prahlad Singh said they have dispatched half a dozen teams to various cities to trace the girls. “We had asked the telecom company to give call details and location of the mobile number,” he added.

Nisha(18) and her cousin Sophia(16) cooked a fake story that they got drowned in a canal near Sathiali while clicking a selfie fom a bridge on Friday morning. Another village girl Sophia, who was accompanying them, informed their family members about the “drowning.”

The administration launched a search operation but could not trace the “bodies” of the two girls. Later, Sophia revealed that the two girls had actually run away from their homes.

The DSP said the police were continuing questioning of Sophia.
