The retrieving of a body from the Anandpur Sahib hydel channel on Tuesday set off a false alarm that it was of missing Gau Sewa Mission president Krishnanand.

A few days ago, the vehicle of the cow-protection activist was found abandoned near the channel at Nangal. Kiratpur Sahib station house officer (SHO) Harkirat Singh said that a media alert about a body with saffron clothes on fished out of canal water at the Nakkian powerhouse had roused Krishnanand’s followers.

Gau Sewa Mission’s Som Nath Rana, Mool Raj Sharma, and Shekhar Shukla came over to the Rupnagar civil hospital to look at the body and declared that it wasn’t of their chief. The body will be preserved for another 72 hours for identification.
