Leveling charges of negligence at a doctor at the Kartarpur civil hospital, 28-year-old auto driver Sarbjeet Singh has alleged that the doctor's course of treatment led to more complications for his pregnant wife. He has also alleged that the doctor got him admitted to her own private nursing home.

He claimed that he brought his wife to the civil hospital after she complained of pain. The doctor, Amandeep Kaur, told them that her wife, Harpinder Kaur, would need an abortion as the foetus had failed to develop in her wife's womb.

He alleged that the doctor then asked them to report at Bajaj Nursing Home on the Kishangarh Road, where she claimed that her treatment would be taken care of. He was also asked to deposit Rs 5,000.

He claimed that after treatment at the private hospital, they left for home, but the problem reoccurred again. The doctor was now evasive on treating his wife.

He alleged that the doctor took his wife inside a ward-room, but did not prescribe her any medicine. There was no improvement in her wife's condition and he ultimately thought it better to take his wife to Jalandhar civil hospital.

Harpinder Kaur said that the doctor only gave her medicines and there was no improvement in her situation.

Demanding action against Dr Amandeep Kaur, Pendu Mazdoor Union leader, Kashmir Singh Ghugshor, said that he had complained to Kartarpur civil hospital against Amandeep for allegedly ensuring that the patient was treated at her own nursing home due to greed.

Speaking with Hindustan Times, Dr Amandeep Kaur said, “I do not have any nursing home in Kartarpur. The one in question belongs to my husband.”

Harpinder Kaur said, “I do not remember any particular patient. I will comment only after looking at records.”
