The family members of another pregnant woman Jyoti, resident of Shiv Nagar, alleged negligence in treatment at the civil hospital that claimed life of her 25 weeks old child in the womb.
Pram Kumar, husband of the victim said even after the scan report confirmed that the child was dead, the doctors did not pay needed attention to his wife.
The civil hospital staff started paying attention only after they protested against them on Monday.
After protests the civil surgeon Dr RL Bassan asked the concerned doctors to shift the woman from general ward to maternity ward for removing the dead child from her womb.
Prem Kumar said that he had admitted his wife on August 27 at the civil hospital. The doctors recommended test of his wife on August 31. The reports showed that the child was dead. Since that day his wife has been suffering and no one from the hospital paid any attention.
Taking note of the situation he informed local BJP leader Amit Taneja who along with others reached the hospital and raised issue before the civil surgeon who then agreed to personally look into the case.
When contacted civil surgeon Dr RL Bassan said that when she was admitted to the hospital, the doctors told her that the life of the child is at risk, as the fluid in her womb was insufficient. This was the main cause of the child's death, adding there was no negligence on part of the staff and the woman was given proper treatment.
He said that the number of patients is high while staff is less and due to this the patients believe that they are not properly attended. He said that he has been streamlining the system to minimise such complaints.
