A BSNL employee, his wife, two daughters and a son are charged with possessing two ration cards and voter cards, one from Punjab and the other from Himachal Pradesh.

Police registered the case on Tuesday. The employee's daughters and son have fake Scheduled Caste certificates, as he belongs to the general category, the station house officer (SHO) of Sri Hargobindpur, Kamaljit Singh, has said.

Anil Sharma, a man from Sri Hargobindpur, had complained to the police on February 18 that Hoshiar Singh who served in public telecommunication company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) possessed two ration cards. He also accused his daughters, Pooja Rani and Monica Rani, and son, Munish Kumar, of holding fake SC certificates.

The SHO said Hoshiar Singh belonged to the general category in the BSNL and school record, while information collected from his village, Kaloor in Nadaun tehsil of Himachal Pradesh, suggested that he was from the Other Backward Classes (OBC). Based on legal advice, the police registered a cheating and conspiracy case against Hoshiar Singh and his family but no member is under arrest yet.
