In the wee hours of October 20, two children of a Dalit family were burnt alive as several members of an upper-caste family set their house afire. The house belonged to one Jatinder. While his two-and-a-half years old son Vaibhav and 11-month-old daughter Divya perished in the fire, Jatinder’s wife
Rekha, 28, suffered serious burn injuries. She is battling for life at Safdarjang Hospital in Delhi. Jitender, 31, also received injuries while trying to save them.
As the incident sparked outrage across Haryana, the state government decided to hand over the probe to the CBI.
