Hardeep Singh, 12, a Class-7 student from Chaina village in Jaitu subdivision was, on Tuesday, allegedly beaten up mercilessly by the father and uncle of a girl student of Class-6 in the premises of the government high school of the village. They allegedly accused the boy of throwing a stone on the girl out of mischief.

“Some boys were playing by throwing pieces of stones at one another, while one stone suddenly hit a girl from Class-6 of the school, who was walking past them. The girl complained about the incident to her brother in the school who, in turn, informed his father Gagan Singh and uncle Jagga Singh about it. They allegedly rushed to the school immediately and, without inquiring into the matter, started beating up the child mercilessly flinging him around and throwing him on to the ground,” claimed a source. The incident took place at about 11:30 am.

“House tests are going on in the schools and children get free before the midday meal. The teachers were engaged in the house test duties while the students, who got free before the full time of the test, were playing waiting for the midday meals when the girl's father and uncle reached the school and instead of going to any teacher, started beating up the boy. The students are of small age and the boy cannot be accused of any bad intention," claimed the source.

The boy was rushed to the local civil hospital by the teachers of the school, from where he was referred to GGS medical college, Faridkot, due to the possibility of some internal injuries.
