Farm labourer, drug addict commit suicide in Mansa
Within 24 hours of two farmers committed suicide in Mansa, another farm labourer reeling under debt ended his life here on Monday afternoon. Gurjeet Singh (45), a mazhabi sikh of Bajewala village was under a debt of around Rs 2 lakh. He hung himself in his house while his family members were away. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.

On Saturday, another farmer Nachattar Singh of the same village had ended his life.

In another incident, Yugraj Singh (22) committed suicide by consuming pesticide here on Monday. According to the police, Yugraj was a drug addict and was also facing around eight cases of assault in Bhikhi police station. “He was an addict and a gangster. He was having some family dispute due to which he ended his life,” said a policeman from Bhikhi.
In both the suicide cases, the police have taken the dead body to the civil hospital for post mortem and an FIR under Section 174 (inquest proceedings) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was lodged at the nearest police station.
