Farmer dies in road mishap, 2 suffer injuries

A 60-year-old man lost his life after a speeding car hit his Maruti Zen car near Gahor village on Ferozepur Road on Saturday, while two occupants sustained injuries.

The farmer, along with his nephew, was coming to Ludhiana to attend Kisan Mela at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) when the incident happened. In the mishap, nephew, and driver of the other car also suffered injuries, and were rushed to a private hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Mukand Singh of Manuke village. The injured are - Rajwinder Singh, 45, who is Mukand Singh's nephew and driver of other car Anumeet Singh, a resident of Raikot.
The Mullanpur Dakha police have registered a case of reckless driving and causing death due to negligence against Anumeet Singh following the statement of Rajwinder Singh.

In his statement, Rajwinder said he along with his uncle was going to Kisan Mela. As they reached Gahor village, a speeding car coming from Ludhiana side took u-turn without giving any signal and hit their car.

The impact of collusion was so high that his uncle died on the spot.

Inspector Waryam Singh, station house officer (SHO), Mullanpur Dakha police station said the police reached the spot immediately and rushed the injured to the hospital.
