Two days after non-bailable warrants were issued against Aam Aadmi Party’s manifesto committee chief Kanwar Sandhu, the court of additional sessions judge Jaspinder Singh on Monday granted him interim bail till August 3, directing him to appear within seven days to furnish bail bonds.
The owners of Fastway Transmission Private Ltd. had filed a defamation case against Sandhu in 2013 for his alleged ‘cable mafia’ remark against the former.
The non-bailable warrants were issued by a local court after Sandhu failed to appear for a hearing on July 16.
Defence counsel Harpreet Sandhu said, “We pleaded that not appearing before the court on July 16 was unintentional. We mistook the July 16 hearing as July 18 due to some confusion.”
