Fatehgarh Sahib admn gears up for 'fair' polls

The district administration is making all preparations for the municipal council polls scheduled for February 25.

The deputy commissioner-cum-district electoral officer KS Sangha said to complete the election process peacefully and in a fair manner on all the 115 polling booths of 74 wards, 140 polling teams will be deployed. As many as 560 government employees have been put on poll duty. They will work under 26 supervisors. The polling teams will get training to operate EVMs (electronic voting machines) on February 21.

Sangha said among the 115 polling booths, 33 have been declared sensitive and 22 as hypersensitive. As many as 772 police personnel will also be on duty on the election day to ensure a fair poll and maintain peace in the district.

He said in case of any complaint, people can give information on helpline number 85588-17860. The complaint's identity will be kept secret, he said.
