In yet another incident a father-son duo killed and five other injured critically, when the car they were travelling in reportedly rammed into a truck standing roadside near College road in Mullanpur Dakha late on Sunday night.

The injured were rushed to different hospitals of Ludhiana, where their condition is said to be critical.

The deceased have been identified as Tilakraj (40) of Jagraon, a dhaba owner along Ferozepur road, and his son Mohit (10) and the injured are Rakesh Kumar (Tilakraj's brother), his wife Sheetal Kumari, Jyoti (wife of Tilakraj) and their relatives Parveen and Harish Kumar.

Mullanpur Dakha police have registered a case of death due to negligence against the truck driver, who is at large leaving his vehicle behind.

The mishap took place at around 11pm, when Tilakraj along with his family members were returning to Jagraon from Ludhiana after visiting their ailing relatives.

Tilakraj was driving the car while Rakesh and Mohit were sitting on front seat.

As they reached near Mullanpur Dakha, Tilakraj reportedly lost his control over the car that rammed into the truck loaded with cement sheets.

Inspector Manjinder Singh, SHO at Mullanpur Dakha police station, said the impact of collision was so severe that Tilakraj and Mohit died on the spot, while five others sustained severe injuries.
