Aimed to providing a balanced diet to the kids and to impart elementary education, Patiala district administration has decided to open 50 model anganwadi centers at different places.
Deputy commissioner Varun Roojam said that all of these centers would be well-equipped with modern facilities in order to attract as many parents to get their children admitted at these centers.
"This is an ambitious plan. The district already has 1700 Anganwadi centres and to build 50 more model centers, the government will have to spend Rs 5 crores in the next two years in a phased manner," he said.
In a review meeting of the government development projects and welfare schemes on Wednesday, Roojam directed the block development and planning officers to locate proper land in their respected areas to set up these centres.
"The modern anganwari centers will be allocated at block levels and would be in accordance with the number of children in that particular block," he added.
