The Daba police have finally registered a case against the accused who had thrashed a woman with rods and sticks on April 3. However, the police have failed to book the main accused, Manoj, in the incident.
Geeta, 32, a resident of Prem Nagar on the Dhandhari road, was brutally beaten by miscreants with rods and sticks in full public view on April 3, following a monetary contention. She had filed a complaint with Daba police the same day, but her pleas felt on deaf ears.
The police booked Kalu and Ashok Kumar of Prem Nagar, but no arrests has been made so far. The woman too was not aware whether the FIR has been registered or not. She said the police did call her on Monday to record her statement, where she had named Manoj, Rahul, Ashok, Chandan, Pandit, Kalu and an unidentified accused, but wasn't aware whether a case was finally registered or not.
She said the police have booked only Ashok and Kalu in the incident, whereas others have been let off, which indicates that the police were hand-in-glove with the other accused.
She had appeared before police commissioner Ishwar Singh on Monday with the video CD recording and had also contacted HT. As the matter was highlighted in the media the police have sprung into took action and immediately called the woman to record her statement to register her complaint.
The woman said she wants justice and want to see the accused behind bars. ADCP city-2 Bhupinder Singh said the police have registered a case according to the statement filed by the woman. The police launched a manhunt for the arrest of the accused and would arrest them soon.
