The municipal corporation on Monday auctioned the multi-level parking near its headquarter at Zone A for Rs 33.69 lakh for a contract of one year.
A company, LYR Liver, bagged the contract for the parking, the reserved price for which was kept at Rs 33.50 lakh.
LYR Liver is the same company that was taking care of Feroze Gandhi market parking in the city till March 31 this year. Notably, the civic body had received several complaints regarding discrepancies in the parking system under the company at Feroze Gandhi market.
Kamlesh Bansal, zonal commissioner of Zone A, said the parking had been auctioned to LYR Liver, and papers for the transfer of the parking were being prepared.
“The documents would be sent to MC commissioner RK Verma after whose approval the parking would be transferred to the contractor,” Bansal said.
The term of the former contractor of the multi-level parking expired on March 28, but the MC failed to conduct a timely auction due to technical reasons. The contractor also got the term of his contract extended for one month at a payment of Rs 2.15 lakh.
Later, on April 25, the MC organised an auction to select a new contractor. But, it failed to find any bidders due to increase in reserved price to Rs 37.44 lakh against last year's Rs 25.87 lakh.
Consequently, the tehbazari wing of the MC took over the parking on April 29.
