A fire broke out at the godown of a textile industry near Jalandhar bypass on Tuesday night.

According to the sources, the articles and machines worth lakhs were gutted in the fire incident. The fire officials took 30 minutes to douse the fire, they said.

Rajinder Sharma, an official of fire department, said, “Soon after we got a call about the incident, we reached there with two fire tenders, but only one was used to douse the fire. The exact reason was yet to be known. There were some machines and other articles inside the godown when fire broke out.”

“Some amount of diesel was also kept in the godown due to which fire got spread instantly,” Sharma said.
