The Nakodar city police on Sunday registered a case against unidentified miscreants for setting the BPEO office on fire.

Assistant block primary education officer (BPEO)Lehmbar Singh in his complaint to the police said that three computers and an almirah, containing financial record, along with office furniture were damaged in the fire.

He said that the school was closed on August 9 and 10 on account of holidays. But on Saturday, when employees reached the school they saw smoke coming out of the office room. Two bottles of kerosene were recovered at the spot. He claimed that the fire was caused intentionally to destroy the records.

Investigating officer assistant sub inspector Gian Singh said that a case under section 436(mischief by fire) of the IPC has been registered.
