The police have booked some unidentified people who opened fire at the Congress election office at Majitha Road on Sunday night. Two empty shells have been recovered from the spot.

Confirming the incident, a Congress leader, Karamjit Singh Rintu, said there were bullet marks at the gate of the election office. He added that a day ago also an unidentified person had opened fired in the area.

In a release issued on Monday, Rintu suspected the involvement of party’s political opponents. Meanwhile, police commissioner Jatinder Singh Aulakh has said two shells had been recovered from the spot. “A case has been registered in this regard against unidentified people.
