Firing at Tarn Taran civil hospital, panic prevails

Panic gripped civil hospital here when some unidentified persons on Monday fired gunshots on a patient named Kanwaljit Singh alias Bahadar, a resident of nearby Manochahal village.

Panic gripped civil hospital here when some unidentified persons on Monday fired gunshots on a patient named Kanwaljit Singh alias Bahadar, a resident of nearby Manochahal village.

As per Police sources, Bahadar is member of a gang and facing several criminal cases. He was attacked by members of other gang some days ago. The attack had left him injured due to which he was admitted in the hospital.

He was receiving medical treatment in surgical ward when he was again targeted by the members of rival gang. Although, firing caused minor injuries to him, other patients got panicked.

After being informed by two security guards, policemen led by SHO of city police station Sukhbir Singh reached the spot and encircled the entire hospital premises, but failed to nab the assailants.

Taking serious note of the incident, senior medical officer Dr Shamsher Singh sought proper security arrangements in the hospital.

Police did not case registered any case against the attackers terming it as gang war. However, people expressed concern over such incidents in the hospital.
