Five Amritsar men booked for murder

The Amritsar City Police have booked five people for robbery and murder of a resident of Shivala area on the intervening night of March 2 and 3.

The police had recovered the body of Jaspal Singh alias Billu from his house in the Shivala area after receiving secret information on the same. The police had conducted inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPc, but Paramjit Kaur, the sister of the deceased, had become a complainant in the case, and had been alleging murder and robbery.

Inspector Sanjiv Kumar, SHO, E Division Police Station, where the case has been registered, said that investigations did point to the fact that robbery and murder had been committed and the deceased's mobile, money, phone and other belongings were missing.

The accused have been identified as Yogesh Kumar alias Simpi, a resident of Bazaar Kathian wala, Raman Kumar alias Paharia, a resident of Katra Ahluwalia, Johny Kapoor, a resident of Mahan Singh gate, Sandeep Singh alias Sanju, a resident of Katra Ahluwalia, and Narinder Singh alias Gogi, a resident of Bazaar Kathian wala. All have been booked under Section 460 (All people jointly concerned in lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night punishable where death or grievous hurt caused by one of them) of the Indian Penal Code.
