The police have booked five people, including two women, for keeping an Assam-based woman in confinement and forcing her into prostitution in Rohtak.

The matter came to light after the victim managed to escape from a house in Sheetal Nagar area and informed the police. The police have booked Rani, Neha, Sunny and Akash under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and started the investigation. The police have also booked an Assam-based man, Lambudeka, for allegedly kidnapping the victim and bringing her to Rohtak.

Rohtak women police station in-charge Garima said that one of the accused Rani has been arrested and she has confessed to her crime.

The victim, Lumbedka brought her to Delhi a week ago with a promise to provide her a job as domestic help, but later handed her over to the Rani and Neha at Rohtak, who locked her in a room and forced her into prostitution. The SHO said the police were making raids to arrest the other accused and family members of the victim had been called to take her back to Assam.
