Five held for planning to commit dacoity

Patiala police today claimed to have arrested five persons on charge of hatching a conspiracy to commit dacoity. On a tip-off, a police team on Sunday midnight raided a deserted place near Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib and arrested the accused.

Patiala police claimed to arrest five persons while they were allegedly hatching a conspiracy to commit dacoity. On a tip-off, a police team on Sunday midnight raided a deserted place near Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib and arrested the accused.

The accused were identified as Gurinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Maninder Pal Singh, Tarsem Singh and Beant Singh, all residents of Fatehgarh Sahib district. The police seized a .32 bore pistol and three live cartridges, two swords and a rod.

Senior Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh Gill said the accused have confessed during interrogation that they had committed robberies at many places in Fatehgarh Sahib and had remained in jail many times due to their anti-social acts.

The police have registered a case under Sections 399 and 402 of IPC and 25 of the Arms Act.
