As many as five people were nabbed by the local police for allegedly killing cows by administering poison to them and then sell their skin and bones.

Hardial Singh Mann, SSP, said a team of the district police, following a tip-off, during a raid at the local Housing Board colony and arrested Vicky alias Kala, Beera, Ajay alias Mota, Rafi, Rinku and Lal Chand while planning to poison more cows, the SSP said.

The police seized a poisonous substance from the accused and booked them under Section 429 of the IPC besides the Cow Slaughter Act 1958, added the SSP.
