Five held in separate cases

The city police have arrested five persons in separate cases. Among those arrested is Mandeep alias Minta, a resident of Majitha road, from whom police recovered two stolen mobile phones.


Civil Lines SHO Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa said the suspect said Vinod Kumar alias Noda, Kuldeep Kumar alias Bhutto, Baldev Kumar alias Deba, who are lodged in jail in connection with a murder case, had given him mobile phones.

"A case under Sections 379-B and 511 of the IPC has been registered in this regard at Civil Lines police station. The other accused will be brought out for investigation on production warrants," he said.

The police have also arrested Gurmeet Singh and Surjeet Singh, both residents of Delhi, under Section 379 of the IPC and recovered a stolen car from them. In another case, a resident of Housing Board Colony, Mandeep Singh alias Morinda, was arrested with a sharp-edged weapon.

In a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, the police have arrested Vikrant alias Nona, a resident of Haweli Roor Singh, and recovered 200gm 'charas', a stolen motorcycle and a mobile phone from him.
Nona's accomplice Yogesh Singh alias Kaka, a resident of Khuh Sunarian, managed to flee.

ASI Nishan Singh said a case under Sections 20, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered in this regard and efforts are being made to arrest the absconding accused.

The SHO said the accused would be taken on remand after they are produced in court. "More recoveries are expected in these cases," he said.
