Four people were killed, while 34 others sustained injuries after a private bus (HP 17B-4688) they were travelling in rolled into a gorge, 85 km from here. The bus was going from Tatiyana village in Sirmaur district to Paonta Sahib when the accident took place.
The deceased have been identified as Ramesh (38), Udai Ram (65), Surto Devi (65) and Seema Devi (22). Paonta Sahib deputy commissioner BC Badaliya, who visited the spot, confirmed that four people had died in the accident.
The injured have been identified as Jagdish of Shilla village, Satish Kumar of Dugana; Dhanbir Singh of Majholi; Dinesh Kumar, Virender Singh, Karan Singh, Sunita, Jagdish Sharma, Pradeep, Rajesh, Sadhuram, Kapil, Gulab Singh, Hukmi Ram and Sidharth of Tatiyana village; Guman Singh of Thontha; Khewat Ram, Surto Devi, Raveena, Bimla Devi, Gurdei Devi and Dinesh of Baila village; Neeraj Thakur, Kalyan Singh and Kedar Singh of Jakhal; Shadi Ram and Ratan Singh of Kota; Jagat Ram of Makrana; Bhag Sing of Bakras; the injured referred to PGI Chandigarh have been identified as Jagdish, Dhanbir Singh, Sunita and Gurdei Devi. Two of the injured are yet to be identified.
The deputy commissioner has, meanwhile, ordered a magisterial probe into the matter. “The Paonta Sahib sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) HS Rana will inquire the case,” he added.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, but as per sources over speeding is reported to be the cause of the accident.

Five passengers were killed in a bus accident in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
A private bus carrying around 20 people was on the way from Taliyana to Paonta Sahib when it rolled down to deep gorge at around 10.15 am.
The mishap took place at Gahalali village of Shilai, nearly 250 kilometers from Shimla.
Injured were admitted to local hospital.
