Five killed in different road accident in Bathinda

As many as five people were killed in different road accidents in the district which includes the death of two motorcycle-borne persons on the Bathinda-Chandigarh road on Friday night and two hit-and-run cases.

Two persons were killed when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car near Bhucho on the Bathinda-Chandigarh road on Friday night. The victims have been identified as Bahadur Singh, 47, a resident of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar in Bathinda, and Gurjant Singh, 50, a resident of a locality on the Parinda road here. The accident took place at about 8 pm when the victims were coming towards Bathinda on a motorcycle (PB 31 F 1220) and the motorcycle was hit by a speeding car (PB 03 AB 0805). Bahadur Singh died on the spot while Gurjant Singh succumbed to injuries during treatment. The police have booked car driver Sandeep Singh, a resident of Poohla village, under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for causing death due to negligence.

In another accident, a man died in a hit-and-run case near Bhucho Khurd on the same road. The accident took place at Friday midnight when an unidentified vehicle hit a man walking on the road. He was rushed to a private hospital where he died. The victim, about 25, is yet to be identified.

Another person was killed when a car rammed into a roadside tree near Gurthari on the Bathinda-Dabwali road on Friday night. Th evictim has been identified as Makha Singh, a resident of Matidas Nagar, in Bathinda and was going to Dabwali in his car when he lost control of the vehicle and it rammed into a tree. The victim was moved to a hospital where he died.

Meanwhile, another man injured in another hit-and-run case near Jida village succumbed to injuries at the civil hospital here on Friday night. The victim, who is yet to be identified, was hit by an unknown vehicle on March 15 and was admitted in Civil hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to injuries after five days.
