Five of carjackers gang arrested with two stolen cars

District police claim to have arrested five members of a gang which snatched vehicles at gun point after hiring them for travel. Police also recovered two cars and two illegal weapons from their possession.

District police claim to have arrested five members of a gang which snatched vehicles at gun point after hiring them for travel. Police also recovered two cars and two illegal weapons from their possession.


SSP Bathinda Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the arrested have been identified as Govind Singh, a resident of Sangat; Mandeep Singh, Manpreet Singh and Karamjeet Singh from Rampura and Gurpreet Singh from Gumati Kalan. A .315 bore pistol and a .32 bore revolver, along with two live cartridges of each weapon, have been recovered. Four of their accomplices identified as Manoj Kumar, Jagtar Singh, Jarnail Singh and Ramandeep Singh are yet to be arrested. Two Maruti Suzuki Swift cars bearing registration numbers PB 47 B 6789 and HR 26 CB 2603 have also been recovered.

Bhullar said the car with the Punjab registration number was snatched by the accused at gun point at Dabwali chowk recently while the car with the Haryana registration number was snatched near Dulewal village. Accused Govind, Mandeep and Karamjeet are already facing several cases of thefts.
