With the arrest of a woman, the police on Saturday claimed to have busted a prostitution racket in a locality on Bhagu road.

Other persons reportedly managed to escape.

The incident came to the fore after the accused woman allegedly created ruckus outside a house alleging that she was cheated by some persons by calling her on the pretext of giving her some medicines and raped her. Local residents informed the police about this.

As the police took unusually more time to reach the spot which is close to the mini-secretariat, thus giving the other accused opportunity to flee.

Deputy superintendent of police (DSP-city II) Palwinder Singh Cheema said during investigation it came to light that a prostitution racket was being run from the house.

The police registered case against the woman and others.
