Fog disrupts rail traffic; 5 trains run behind schedule

With a thick blanket of fog engulfing the city, more than five trains got delayed by several hours, causing a huge inconvenience to passengers.

Officials of the Ferozepur rail division remained on their toes.

The Amrapali Express 15707, which was late by seven hours, started at 3pm instead of 8.30am while the Superfast New Delhi-Amritsar 12460 was late by nine hours. The Chhattisgarh Express 12460, which was supposed to reach at 5.30am, would reach at 10pm and the Amritsar-Howrah Express 13050 was late by one hour 50 minutes. The Amritsar-Howrah Mail 13006 was running nine hours behind schedule.

The Shatabdi Express was one hour late while Chhattisgarh Express 18237 was seven hours behind schedule. Most of the trains are running late by hour or so. However, no train was cancelled on Monday.

“Passengers were inconvenienced today as the visibility was relatively poor,” said an official at the city railway station.
