Fog engulfs city, schoolsopt to revise timetable

With winter showing no signs of abating and due to dense fog, several private schools in the city have decided to change their timings with some starting their daily session as late as 9am.

The news will bring a relief to students, parents and teachers as now most of the schools will start half-an-hour late from their regular schedule.

From Monday, Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, will start at 9am instead of previous 8.30am. School principal Mona Singh said: "Winter vacation at the school will start from December 28 and the school will re-open on January 6. We will extend vacation for primary classes if the weather becomes severe."

Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, has changed the school timings from 8am to 8.30am. The winter break will start from December 24 and school will reopen on January 5.

Gunwant Kaur Gill, principal of Guru Nanak International Public School, said: "We'll extend school timings from next week as formative assessments are going on and students get free at 11am. The winter break will start from December 31 and continue till January 7."

BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary school, Shastri Nagar- December 28 to January 4.

Shamrock Christian Senior Secondary school, Hambran Road- January 1 to January 11.

Ryan International School, Dugri- January 1 to January 11.

Sacred Heart Convent School, Chandigarh Road- December 24 to January 4.
