The district police have booked a food safety officer (FSO) on Sunday, for allegedly misrepresenting himself as a Crime Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer to procure details from the Kot Isse Khan police.

The accused has been identified as Abhinav Kumar, working at Moga civil surgeon office as an FSO.

On July 23, Abhinav posing as a CBI officer went to the police station and asked for the details of a case registered in 2014 against Longiwind village sarpanch Kulbir Singh, who was running dairy at his home for allegedly selling adulterated milk. The case is now being investigated by the CBI.

Suspecting some foul play, SHO Jayant Singh directed assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Lakhwinder Singh to inquire the matter who later find out that he was not their officer.

The police authorities have taken up the matter with CBI and on the complaint of inspector of police Veena Gera, CBI, Chandigarh, the police have booked Abhinav Kumar under the Section 170 (Personating a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
