To cover the International Day of Yoga at Chandigarh where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be doing asanas, the UT’s department of public relations has directed journalists to be on duty at 3 o’clock in the morning. That is three hours and forty minutes ahead of the scheduled arrival (6.40am) of Modi.
For the public, including all VIPs except Modi and those will be with him, the time of entry is before 6am.
In the emailed media advisory for the event at Capitol Complex, journalists have been told to “assemble at the UT secretariat in Sector 9 at 3am sharp”, and they will be ferried to the venue in designated buses. Media entry at the venue will be closed by 5am, and the main programme will be over around 8am, it added.
The live coverage will only be done by Doordarshan, and the feed will be provided to all electronic media. The advisory said still photographers should carry telephoto lenses — which take wider, larger shots — “for better coverage”.
