A local court on Monday dismissed the bail application of the woman accused who was arrested for allegedly robbing the jewellery showroom, Forever Diamonds at Sector 17 on May 1, along with two other accused.
Shivani, along with Vaibhav Verma and Ankur Jolly were arrested for allegedly robbing the shop. The defence counsel for Shivani had contended that she was falsely implicated in the case and no recovery was made from her.
The court reserved the bail order of Vinod Verma, the coowner of jewellery showroom, Forever Diamonds for Tuesday. A case of cheating was registered against the owners of Forever Diamonds, Rajneesh Verma and Vinod Verma on Saturday, for allegedly stage-managing a ‘loot’ of jewellery valued at Rs 14 crore.
Verma in the anticipatory bail plea had blamed the local police for harassing him and his family. He further alleged that police was pressurising the showroom’s staff.
Claiming to be innocent, he had averred that police instead of tracing the robbers has wrongly implicated him in the case. However, Rajneesh Verma is yet to be arrested. Police had alleged that Shivani, Vaibhav Verma, Ankur Jolly were roped in by the jewellery store owners to play robbers’ role.
The dacoity made headlines on May 1 when owners of the showroom had claimed that two men and a woman, all in their 20s, looted their showroom of Rs 14.08 crore worth of diamond and gold ornaments after locking them in a room at gunpoint in broad daylight.
